Do You Know These Facts About Spyware ?

Posted in University of Software by admin on the September 29th, 2008

Imagine something that follows you home and sets itself up
in your house. It eats your food, enjoys your drinks, reads
everything you bring home or purchase. It runs up your
phone bills and no matter where you go, it can follow you
and takes notes on everything you do.

Generically labeled spyware, your stealth visitor is a
program or set of programs designed to track your Internet
activity. And, while it hasn’t gone as far as above, it can
and will make your life uncomfortable.

The most benign form of spyware simply takes note of what
types of websites you visit and communicates the
information to its source. For advertisers, this adware
form of spyware allowed them to only send advertisements
you were likely to be interested in.

The theory being that it saved wasting anyone’s time on
products you wouldn’t likely care about or want to buy. Of
course, that was the theory. The practice has become one of
abuse, with so many packaged adware or spyware programs
downloaded, you may never know who is watching.

While there are different viruses that act spyware and
render malicious damage to your PC, bandwidth and sometimes
your modem, spyware may take the same format and render
similar damage.

Most spyware is installed after downloading some type of
free program or attachment from someone you don’t know.
Sophisticated processes can hide in .dll files and be
incredibly difficult to remove even for spyware zapper
programs.

The initial idea behind spyware or adware may not have been
so bad. However, they will take up lots of valuable CPU and
RAM space on your machine, clogging your Internet
bandwidth, which can create noticeable delays when you are
doing normal day-to-day activities. It can slow down reboot
processes because of adding unwanted programs to your start
up menu.

Those downfalls are just what happens with the programs not
designed to hijack your browser, point it at porn sites,
download pornographic material, steal your address books,
stored credit card information or create a waypoint for
hacking into other’s machines.

Spyware is a very real villain in the cyber world. The
majority of computer and Internet users do not believe
these types of programs affect them, yet more often than
not; they have hopefully been protected by firewalls and
anti-virus software that combat them.

Avoiding irresponsible net behavior, such as downloading
programs or files from an unknown sender, the taking of
free offers of packaged software, including games,
giveaways, software and utilities may prove detrimental to
the life and function of your machine. Many of these
packaged programs carry hidden within their walls spyware
of some type.

So whether it is designed to discover which web merchants
you visit most often or what credit card information you
have stored on your machine, spyware is a very real threat
in a world where the Internet is seemingly as important to
everyday activity as a pair of shoes. The best advice is to
be aware, in addition to installing anti-virus software
with firewall.

Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics on Pervasive SQL.2000 Data Repair - Overview For DBA’s

Posted in University of Software by admin on the September 28th, 2008

Some introduction into Great Plains Software products, now Microsoft Business Solutions. Microsoft Great Plains becomes more and more popular, partly because of Microsoft muscles behind it. Now it is targeted to the whole spectrum of horizontal and vertical market clientele. Small companies use Small Business Manager (which is based on the same technology - Great Plains Dexterity dictionary DYNAMICS.DIC and runtime DYNAMICS.EXE), Great Plains Standard on MSDE is for small to midsize clients, and then Great Plains serves the rest of the market up to big corporations.

If you are database administrator who is supporting the version on Pervasive SQL.2000/Ctree - read this and you will have the clues on where to look further.

1. Microsoft Great Plains Tables Structure - Launch Great Plains and go to Tools->Resource Description->Tables. Find the table in the proper series. If you are looking for the customers - it should be RM00101 - customer master file, account master file - GL00101, Sales Header Work file - SOP10200 - and you got the idea.

2. Use Microsoft Access. Lunch Microsoft Access and make a link to Microsoft Great Plains tables. This will allow you to do data modification/repair. Some people are trying to use Pervasive control center - we do not recommend this - MS Access does job better.

3. Locked batch repair - unlocking the batch, which was interrupted in posting. The tables: SYoo500 - batch header - you need to change Batch Status or Marked for Posting field

4. Activity table - If you have user locked in Great Plains - just ask all the other users exit and delete ACTIVITY.BTR (Pervasive) or ACTIVITY.DAT (Ctree)

5. Crystal Report link to Pervasive/Ctree - you have to install Pervasive SQL ODBC driver from Great Plains Dynamics CD. This will allow you to deploy ODBC connection to Great Plains database

6. Sometimes you have to rescue to Great Plains Dexterity- when you need ongoing data import and you do not own Great Plains Integration manager or when Integration Manager doesn’t have the object to deploy. This is proprietary Great Plains Software tool and development environment and you need some time invested, before you can do programming.

7. Complex Data Migration - use MS SQL Linked Server - you can create linked server to Pervasive/ctree and then you can create the cursor, coming through all the tables in your migration set - we usually recommend reading tables schema in MS SQL Server (it is the same to Pervasive) and pull the data from Pervasive database using EXEC statement in Transact SQL.

Marvelous computers to win at Dutch Windeprijsvraag.nl this quarter

Posted in Online Shopping, Universe Of Games, Web Of Fun by admin on the September 25th, 2008

Many more funny online contests are pick out to enter online cyber sweepstakes. That’s why there are great surfboards to be won at funny online contest and internet sweepstakes this month. Entering online sweepstakes by mail is declining in well known popularity this year. Fun websites are toughened much more indifferently than the people who win who are not chosen by risk but by an element of skill.

You can win super electrical tools now every 15 hours even if you live in Lynn Massachusetts or in Manteca California, isn’t that terrific. Sweepstakes and promotions are prohibited from requiring a bribe to enter. It should be really great to win SUVs worth 9606 euro and that easy. 7 days ago also a Dutch web company started a online contest and is also legally differently. Easy sweepstakes are in general much more comfortable and much more quicker to enter than online contests. Internet sweepstakes are also legally different from the contest websites in New Britain Connecticut. Online actions advertised as online game contests, withal, can demand an entry fee or license of purchase.

Want To Own A Muscular Greek God Body?

Posted in Fitness Center by admin on the September 23rd, 2008

If you are clueless at the gym and yet hungry for plain, good ‘ol professional advice to help you on the road to that sculpted physique of a Greek god, fret not! All you have to do is to have a solid commitment, use the knowledge gleaned from this article and you will attain the body you want pronto. But remember to warm up and cool down, as well as stretching before and after each session; Or even better, after each set for better muscle recovery and prevention of injuries.

Use Free Weights instead of Machines More Often

Machines will have its uses, but for a start, concentrate on free weights. That means work almost exclusively with barbells and dumb bells. Free weights recruit many stabilizing muscles for balance and control. That means you will work a lot more muscle parts other than the intended ones. That will give rise to little bumps, striations and definitions all over your body instead of one huge lump of muscle on your intended muscle. Because of the extra stimulant created, your muscles grow faster too. Why else do you think all professional body builders almost exclusively use free weights?

Compound Exercises Instead Of Isolation Exercises

Use as many compound exercises as possible to your workouts. Compound exercises are exercises that involve 2 or more joint movements. Because they utilize more joints, that means greater muscle mass are involved. Greater muscle mass means heavier weights. Heavier weights means greater muscle gain.

Some excellent compound exercises are the Squat, Deadlift, Chin ups, Dips, Bench press, Barbell Press, Lunges, Bent-Over Barbell Row…etc.

Train with Intensity

You must train intensively like a mad man for your muscle to grow. Try to do more reps or add more weight than the previous session or your muscles will think, “Ah… we’ve done that. Nothing new, so no need to grow bigger and stronger.”

Because of this, it is important that every time you train hard, you give your body time to recover as it has suffered strains and actually sustained many small scarring. Your muscles grow when you rest, especially when you sleep and not in the gym. So sleep at least 8 hours a day. Also, do not train everyday or work the same muscle group more than once or twice a week. If your training was vigorous enough, do no more than an hour per session.

Try not to do cardio work on the same day as your weight lifting work. In fact, during the muscle building phase, you should do less cardio work as aerobic exercises burn muscles. You can increase your cardio work when we come to the cutting phase, to lose fats and gain rippling definition.

Correct Technique And Form

Everywhere, everyday, you will see people using wrong form and technique when training with weights. This not only compromises your growth, it will also make you susceptible to injuries.

Wrong form occurs usually when people try to lift weights that are too heavy, whether out of vanity or ignorance. As a guide, always lift with strict focus on the muscle you intend to build for that particular exercise. Feel it contract and extend. Lift the weights deliberately and slowly. Never ever swing your weights up especially when doing bicep curls or the military press. Lower the weights slowly, taking about 3 seconds instead of letting gravity pull the weight down. You must fight gravity to stimulate the muscles, if not, half of your effort is going to waste. Another common mistake is when people arch their back when they are doing their bench presses. By arching your back, you are using your spine to press the weight up. Your back must be pressed against the bench at all times for the exercise to be effectively working on your chest! However you MUST arch your back when doing squats and deadlift.

With some exceptions, as a general rule, if you can lift a weight in good form for more than 10 reps, it is too light. Conversely, if you can’t lift it more than 5 times in good form, it is too heavy.

To Grow Fast and Huge, You Must Perform Lower Body Exercises!

This is what most people don’t realize. Your lower body makes up 60-70% of your musculature. If you don’t train them, not only will you look spider-legged, your entire body will not grow as quickly and as large. Don’t think that you can hide those skinny legs in your pants! Most people do not train their legs because squats, dead lifts and lunges can be very grueling exercises. But it is precisely because of such intensity that you will produce more growth hormones when you sleep and overall muscular development is stimulated.

EAT and EAT Correctly

Losing weight and building muscles cannot happen at the same time although there are methods to do so and will be too technical to describe here. To lose weight, you must have a caloric deficit. To build muscles, you must have more calories, period! So do not be afraid to eat. Have plenty of protein, moderate complex carbs and some good oil like Omega, olive, flaxseed, fish etc., especially immediately after a workout. That is when your body is most nutrient hungry and will absorb whatever you eat very quickly. The longer you delay eating after a workout, the less effective it will be. Even better, take quick absorption protein shakes and high glycemic carbs during this time. The carbs will induce insulin production almost immediately and shuttle the protein to your muscle cells very quickly.

Eat about 2 gm of protein for each kg of your bodyweight or 1 gm per pound of your body weight. Spread your meals evenly throughout the day about 3 hours apart. It is advisable that you have supplementation of Creatine, Protein, Multivitamins and L-Glutamine.

Yes, you will probably gain weight, but a lot of it will be muscle weight because muscles are heavier than fats. You may also gain some fats because of the extra calories consumed. Don’t worry, it is a happy problem because the more muscles you have, the easier the fats are to shed when you come to the cutting up phase to get those rippling definitions.

Easy isn’t it? Now that you know the facts, the rest is up to your determination.

Glucosamine Review and Potential Benefits

Posted in Fitness Center by admin on the September 19th, 2008

Something interesting happened as my triceps workouts continued in their intensity. After doing some triceps elbow extensions and numerous other elbow extension exercises, I began to feel effects of what is known as elbow tendonitis. The symptoms generally included a pain with any movement of my elbows. So much so, that even resting my arms on a chair began to have an associated soreness to the touch. Similar to my bicep tendonitis experience, the pain experienced was not normal. A bodybuilder who is tune with their muscles can tell the difference between an intense workout and an intensely painful workout.

This elbow tendonitis came about from an overuse of any exercise. With the increased weight, I eventually reached a peak of classic overuse of the joints. Not sure of a treatment, I did the first thing I could. Adjust my form. Keeping the elbows locked in on triceps movements is critical. It can alleviate if not remove the pressure on the joints when doing a very heavy exercise movement. This was my first elbow tendonitis treatment experiment.

Continuing week after week with my new form, the pain was less severe, but it was not a full treatment. Some of the elbow tendonitis symptoms became less painful but the general pain was always present. This has an acute effect on your motivation to continue to do exercises. Doing triceps exercises (dips, skull crushers, one arm and two arm overhead extensions, rope pushdowns) has always been something I look forward to with each arm workout. But with anything that is painful, your body doesn’t want to do it. In fact, continuing and pushing past the pain “no pain no gain” mantra, I would have eventually damaged my joints beyond repair.

After talking to a friend’s wife, she told me about her husband, who started taking Glucosamine for his joints. There are basically two kinds of people who need some type of cartilage therapy. Those who are suffering from osteoarthritis or athletes with overuse injuries. Considering he’s not very old and probably isn’t losing too much cartilage, I had to believe that it was working on cars daily and using his joints excessively (turning hands, manipulating small parts) that lead to his overuse of his finger joints and the pain associated. Thus began my short research and trial of a Glucosamine product to see what benefits Glucosamine might have and any possible side effects specific to me.

Glucosamine is a combination of sugar and amine. It’s found normally in cartilage and plays an important role in cartilage health and resiliency. As you naturally age, you lose some Glucosamine and that leads to the eventual thinning of the cartilage around the joints. Osteoarthritis defined as the deterioration of the cartilage in the joints. Glucosamine and Chondroitin are found naturally in your body. Chondroitin Sulfate helps draw water into the cartilage (that the Glucosamine is repairing) making it more elastic.

Glucosamine is derived from the shells of crabs and shrimp. Most studies show that taking approximately 500mg three times a day for a total of 1500mg is effective in improving joint health. Those who have damaged their joints to the point of little to no cartilage, or who have had cartilage surgically removed, probably won’t experience any benefits simply because it’s impossible to repair cartilage that no longer exists. Most oral Glucosamine is easily absorbed because the molecules are very small, easily diffused and water-soluble.

After viewing the brief research above, I began taking oral doses of Glucosamine and Chondroitin, 1500mg a day, 3 capsules. My first choice was AST’s ProFlex 750 Joint Support formula. I ended up going to Costco and getting Kirkland’s Glucosamine Sulfate product as well. Just so I could have a supply at home. Different products but basically, Glucosamine and some Chondroitin.

Within the first few days, my elbow tendonitis symptoms started to disappear. I’ve been taking this product for about 2 weeks now, and my workouts are back to their regular intensity. Taking a Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement has all but cured my elbow tendonitis. From the research I could gather, it’s important to take these products when you still have a lot of cartilage to repair. It’s pretty ineffective to take it when the damage is too severe or the cartilage is absent. Glucosamine is a naturally occurring substance in the body with a primary function of stimulating the growth and repair of cartilage tissues.

Getting Patched with Windows Service Pack

Posted in University of Software by admin on the September 10th, 2008

Are you one of those people that keeps track of recalls, just in case one of your most recent purchases gets recalled? Well, some of us do, but many of us don’t.

For those of us who don’t keep up with recalls in general, it’s just as easy to be unaware of the fact that Microsoft Windows offers us this wonderful service called a Service Pack, which is essentially a recall service for Microsoft Windows. Most people are not aware of service packs, what they’re for, and how to use them. Let’s talk for a minute about how service packs can help save or even lengthen the life of your PC.

First, you’ll need to set up your PC to receive those service packs on a regular basis. This keeps your computer safe from hackers. Oftentimes, Microsoft discovers faulty code or loopholes in the operating system which also, unfortunately, gets detected by hackers. If your computer is not serviced and updated, you open the door for hackers to step in and take over.

They way to set up your service pack for automatic updates is to open your Control Panel, and then open System. You will then select the Automatic Updates tab. You can also choose to have your updates downloaded but not installed automatically.
Be sure to check this often to make sure you still have your automatic updates for service pack selected.

Service Pack by Microsoft will speed up and automate your critical tasks, fix bugs, install updates to Microsoft applications, repair compatibility problems with third-party software and hardware, add pop-up protection and firewalls, add protection for communication tools such as Outlook and Messenger, and improve user interface features.

You literally have nothing to lose by making sure you keep your PC patched, and it only takes a moment to be sure that your automatic updates for service packs is selected. This is a great way to protect the life of your PC and relieve your mind of hackers, which, of course, preserves your own sanity! So patch away!

Manufacturing Solutions for Microsoft Great Plains - Overview for Consultant

Posted in University of Software by admin on the September 4th, 2008

Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains has full-featured manufacturing set of modules. In this small article we would like to give you highlights on what kinds of light customization you could deploy, before jumping into Microsoft Great Plains Manufacturing realm. Great Plains Manufacturing is targeted to discrete manufacturing clientele, which is opposite to process manufacturing - food processing, mining, including precious metals/gold/platina, oil and gas / chemicals / agriculture. Manufacturing from accounting stand point is moving inventory into work in progress and then into finished goods. And this is where we have fundamental difference between discrete and process manufacturing.

• Barcoding - this would be the help in allocating your inventory to the manufacturing activity. We saw clients who were asking about full-featured manufacturing, but later on we realized that they were envisioning barcode scanning people walking through their warehouse

• Bill of Materials - well if barcoding doesn’t do the job for you - you should look if Bill of Materials module will automate your operations. In Bill of Materials you could program light manufacturing. We saw the machinery manufacturing/assembly client in Chicago area who asked us to help them phase out Kiwell manufacturing, because of high annual maintenance cost. So - our opinion is if you are manufacturing client in the USA - you should probably first look at the outsourcing part of the business - if 90% of manufacturing of going to China - you should consider Great Plains Bill of Materials module implementation only with light manufacturing extensions

• ERP/ Capacity planning - well this is were you have to consider manufacturing suite. Great Plains Manufacturing has complete set of discrete manufacturing modules: Bill of Materials, ERP Capacity Planning, Cost Center.

• Reporting. In our opinion the best way to save software money is to replace highly priced module with similar reporting. Reporting is rather static, but in its prints outs it allows you to avoid expensive license fee (if you decide on SAP or Oracle Financials - this will triple your software expenses)

Good luck and you can always seek our help in customization, implementation, integration and support. Call us: 1-866-528-0577 or 1-630-961-5918, help@albaspectrum.com

When Will We See Software “For the Rest of Us?”

Posted in University of Software by admin on the September 4th, 2008

Microsoft Office is a very powerful packagewith its Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access programs.

It can also be powerfully expensive.

If you buy MS Office bundled with a new computer, it will probably add around $149 to your purchase price. If you don’t buy it bundled with a new computer, you might have to pay as much as $499. However, if you qualify, you can buy the Student/Teacher Edition for a much better price — around $149.

If $149 is too much for you, there’s MS Works which comes bundled with many computers. It adds so little to a computer’s purchase price, it might just as well be free. However, its look and feel can be kind of clunky and irritating and, in some ways, it’s too elementary.

Speaking of free, there’s OpenOffice.org, a very richly-featured suite of products that costs nothing. That’s right. Nothing. And it includes a spreadsheet program, word processor, presentation program, database program and draw package. (Note: You can download OpenOffice.org from www. openoffice.org.)

The problem with MS Office and OpenOffice.org is that they have programs most of us will never use and features that most of us don’t need.

For example, I am using OpenOffice.org’s Writer program to write this article. When I click on Edit, I get options such as “Compare Document,” “Navigator,” and “Exchange Database.” When would I ever want to “Exchange Database,” for goodness sake?

So, when is someone going to offer unbundled software for the rest of us?

In other words, if you don’t need a presentation program, you wouldn’t be forced to buy or download one. Conversely, if all you need is a handy-dandy presentation program, you could buy just that. In this ideal world, I would buy a word processing program and maybe a simple spreadsheet program. And the word processing program would give me just the features I need and not a lot of stuff like “Compare Document,” and “Navigator.”

Well, you might ask, since OpenOffice.org is free, what does it matter if it comes with programs and features you don’t need?

I would give two answers to this. First, the programs I don’t need just sit around taking up space on my hard drive. Second, I like Writer, but when I click on an item like “Edit,” I don’t want to have to deal with a bunch of features I don’t need and, in some cases, don’t even understand.

I know Microsoft will never unbundle Office and I understand why. I also understand that Sun (the company behind OpenOffice.org) won’t unbundle its suite of office products because it’s true objective is to sell the program to corporations.

But isn’t there someone out there interested in selling software “for the rest of us?”

The Flourishing Cosmopolitan Realty Marketplace: Made Possible by The PropertyIndex.com Company

Posted in Uncategorized by admin on the September 3rd, 2008

Though the Property Index service is a young organisation, (they were established in March 2007), they have very swiftly advanced to expert status. They are actually a rather informal organisation specialised in proposing expert advice to every customer expecting to sell, buy, rent, etc. real property across the globe. Their pledge is to be of assistance to you to determine precisely what you crave very swiftly and, likewise, straightforwardly.

Real estate can be bought everwhere in our times, arguably the coolest area being real property for sale in Portugal. It should be dead easy to write up the ripping property on the market in Portugal, the rationale for hunting for properties here is a combination of the houses and apartments available and the option to live amid such a effervescent people. This is one of the most fashionable regions of the world in our times, and with the lovely landscape and agreeable climate surrounding you all the time, how could you ever go wrong… Real estate in Portugal is steeped in history, this part of the world has been and still is home to a fair number of indigenous cultures.

There are a range of properties in Portugal for sale on Property Index, from villas to apartments.

Just 30 years back you would find just a trickle of English looking for property in Portugal. Ask any one single person who has emigrated to Portugal and they’ll certainly back this up. Many people would tend to see it as a momentary fad and others tend to see it as a practically a fixation! People who are looking to move over here will typically range from young well to do couples who are looking for a new life perspective to the elderly planning to enjoy being retired. Note that you may encounter some hitches when attempting to purchase property in a foreign country - there will be hundreds of steps to come to terms with be it when organising, sightseeing or finalising. If you only miss but a single minor step it is certain to well generate broad hitches and, preeminently, loss in financial terms.

As you will assume with this trendy area, property could be incredibly expensive in this region which is, of course, clearly caused by the expanding market pressure. This notwithstanding, property buyers are particular in such a part of the world so determined by vivacious terrain and glorious panorama. It’s able to offer the whole kit and caboodle anyone might want and more.

Avoiding Poker Burnout

Posted in Lucky Gambling, Universe Of Games, Web Of Fun by admin on the September 3rd, 2008

Many people get tired of their day to day routines and for poker players this is no exception. When you are playing every day and take bad beat after bad beat or simply can’t seem to get any momentum in your game it can become incredibly frustrating and actually make your play worse. One of the best remedies for poker burnout is a break. Simply take a few days off. Get away from poker and clear your mind. It’s amazing what a little distance and perspective can do for your game.

If you simply can’t live without poker for a single day, another alternative is to learn a variety of other poker games. If you are primarily a Texas Holdem player, try learning another game such as Omaha High-Low or Seven Card Stud. Mixing up your variety of games will give you more options if one hasn’t been going especially well. Texas Holdem poker players tend to transition to Omaha well and I would recommend Mike Cappelletti’s “How to Win at Omaha High-Low” as a good starting point for anyone wanting to learn the game. When you start to feel burned out playing Holdem, just try something different for a little while to change things up.
