Crafty and Fun Thoughts for Holiday Celebrations
Girls prepare their mother’s fruitcake recipe, as handed down from Grandma. Fathers and sons set up lights on the home and reindeer on the roof. And many read “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas” to young ones too wild to sleep with sights of Santa slipping down the chimney heavy with toys. But one occasion custom everyone can enjoy together is the Christmas tree.
DIY tapers and embellishes are two Christmas party ideas that do double duty as decorations and gifts. Candles are a brilliant and fabulous way to cast a joyous glow during the holidays. When coupled with a great candleholder, they also make special gifts. Re-purpose all those blank baby food jars lying around into exquisite candleholders. Tie them up in cellophane and give them away as party favours or last-minute gifts. Got a lot of mismatched tea cups lying around? Transform them into luxe candleholders! All it takes to transform general drinking glasses into lovely candle holders is a bit of tissue paper and paste. Great for a kid’s craft, employ paint markers to dress a spare glass candle votive.
This Christmas, get in touch with your fanciful side! From themed Christmas parties to Do-it-yourself ornamentations, there are so many ways to celebrate the true significance of this occasion all while passing quality time with family and friends.
After you have garnished your tree in homemade decorations and a handmade tree skirt, be sure to spruce it up a bit more with a holiday township underneath. Pictures of villages, trains, and ice skaters on miniature mirror ponds are loving memories that I have of the decorations under our home Christmas tree. Instead of a uncomplicated skirt or the traditionalistic nativity scene, create a charming climate beneath the tree with miniature towns in a settlement, toys in a play land, or a model train that encircles the trunk making a vibrant holiday landscape.
