How Do These Companies Manage Their Assets?

Posted in Economy + Finance, Making Money, World Of Management by admin on the December 9th, 2009

There are so many companies out there (the bigger ones) that have literally thousands upon thousands of assets out there. So how on earth do they go around managing all of them and deciding on what needs replacing and what doesn’t?

Coca-Cola

This is one of the best examples to give as Coca-Cola literally have hundreds of lorries, factories, buildings, and you could even go as far as saying that the individual bottles and cans are actually assets to the company too. So how on earth do you go about tracking a company as big as this? Well they most likely use a piece of equipment known as inventory management software. This is going to allow Coca-Cola to track every single asset they have all on one system which means they will get notice when things are in need of replacement. This system will also let companies know when the lease of a building is up, when the insurance is almost up and also if there is no need to change anything at all!

So why are companies using computerized maintenance management software?

Well as I have previously mentioned it is actually a lot easier than going around and inspecting every single Asset manually and with companies like Coca-Cola, Disney and Microsoft this would be virtually impossible to do. On top of this it would be very costly and part of the reason these companies are so successful is because they know how and when to save money.

So is there a way your business can adopt asset management? Well any business can improve on the way that they manage their assets and this can be applied for both small and large companies.

So instead of going around the building checking the condition of the fax machines and computers why not get a system that can do it for you?
